Schizachyrium ‘Chameleon’ is a beautifully variegated green and white grass in spring and early summer, but that’s not when it really shines. In late summer and fall, the color slowly changes to vibrant purple and red, complemented by maroon flowers. Outstanding!
Also called Little Bluestem, Schizachyrium scoparium is native to much of the United States, where it grows in prairies, fields, and along roadsides. It is tolerant of heat and humidity and grows well in almost any soil. It thrives the most in poor, well-drained soil.
Schizachyrium ‘Chameleon’ Little Bluestem would make a stunning addition to ornamental gardens.
