Salvia guarantica ‘Black and Blue’ produces beautiful 12″ long spikes of intense deep blue tubular flowers from black calyxes from midsummer to frost. Its leaves are bright green with a fuzzy texture. Commonly referred to as Anise Sage this Rare Roots’ perennial favorite is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Salvia ‘Black and Blue’ is also deer resistant and long blooming.
Salvia guarantica ‘Black and Blue’ prefers sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soil but is drought tolerant once established. A South American native, it may be somewhat tender in Zone 7.
