Commonly called Beardtongue, ‘Onyx and Pearls’ is a cultivated variety of a US native plant that’s been bred for its improved form, as well as its heat- and humidity-tolerance.

Penstemon digitalis is native to prairies, fields, and wood margins of the eastern United States. In the garden, it makes a reliably low-maintenance and drought-tolerant plant that native pollinators delight in.
