Pennisetum alopwcuroides ‘Piglet’ produces compact mounds of narrow green foliage that are topped in the late summer by 18″ stems of showy, bottle brush plumes. Pennisetum alopecuroides is a perennial, warm season grass, whose tan foliage and seed heads provide winter interest. Pennisetum ‘Piglet’ is a dwarf variety making it nice for edging or containers as well as the border.
Also known as Fountain Grass, Pennisetum alopecuroides prefers sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. It will tolerate clay and sandy soil. Pennisetum ‘Piglet’ is drought tolerant and is more winter hardy than P. ‘Little Bunny’.
