Allium ‘Medusa’ has narrow grass-like leaves that twist around taller stems supporting light purple, nearly 2″ spherical clusters of flowers in late summer. The snaky foliage produces a typical onion scent when cut or bruised. As with the other Allium, ‘Medusa’ is a magnet for butterflies and honeybees.
Allium ‘Medusa’ prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. This is a drought tolerant, deer-resistant, easy to grow, bulbous perennial. For a winning combination, pair this cool-colored perennial with yellows and golds in the landscape.
